The 4 P’s of marketing planning
There’s a running theme going through the veins of these templates if you haven’t noticed. Planning. We don’t like shooting in the dark, we like to know what’s coming. We almost love planning as much as we love executing when it comes to our marketing strategy so here’s another template of gold for you to lap up.
The marketing mix is the combination of the four controllable factors that affect your company profits: product, place, promotion, and price (the 4 P’s of marketing).
- Product – What is the product that you are providing? What are it’s features? What services are you offering to your customers?
- Place – Where will you be selling the product? Do you have any affiliates set up? Do you have any sales happening on other platforms?
- Promotion – How are you going to market it? Which channels will you be using? Do you have any PR planned? Any campaigns in the mix that you are looking to launch?
- Price – The golden question – how much will it cost? Will you be offering discounts to any particular groups of people? If so, how much? Are you a subscription service or do you need customer to pay you on a one-off basis?
There’s a ton to think about. But that’s not to say it’s all not vitally important to your success. The 4 p’s of marketing really are at the root of many successful products of the past and could be of yours too. You will build up a fuller picture of your marketing while also learning a lot about your existing approach. It’s a worthwhile exercise as it really helps you optimise in the future too.
