4 C’s of marketing
The 4 C’s of marketing is framework used to plan your marketing strategy where you take into account multiple factors. Before you can plan out in details how to market your products or services, you need to understand the bigger picture of the environment around you.
So what are the 4 C’s of marketing?
- Customer – They say the customer is always right but we say you think of it as the customer is always important! Who are they? (check out our Finding Your Customers template for this!) and what do they do? You want to know the ins and outs of your customers before they’ve even laid eyes on your product.
- Competition – Who are they? What is their business model? How do they get their customers? All important stuff to know before formulating a marketing strategy. You should also be taking notes from them. If there killing it on a certain channel, you should definitely be taking note.
- Company/capabilities – It’s important not to over-stretch yourself or your team. Understand what you can do and how long it’s going to take. There’s nothing worse than setting a goal and never even coming close to reaching it. Don’t set yourself up for a fall!
- Cost/economics – At the end of the day, a lot of business comes down to money. How much is what you’re proposing going to cost? Is the ROI there for you and your team? How long is that ROI going to take to be back into your bank account?
The 4 C’s of marketing are truly an awesome tool and perspective to use when working out how you’re going market your business. Always bring it back to the 4 C’s.
